Guilin China

At first, we were skeptical about whether we would enjoy our 6-day, 5-night stay at Club Med Guilin. We worried it might be too boring and even thought about booking a shorter trip. However, Club Med Guilin completely exceeded our expectations!

Thanks to Ali (CDV) and his vision for upgrading the village's facilities, the resort now boasts brand-new pickleball, padel tennis, and tennis courts, as well as a soccer field. The whole village feels fresh, modern, and vibrant. As night owls, we were especially touched by GO Emmett, who went the extra mile to play with us on the courts late into the night. His enthusiasm and hospitality made our stay truly unforgettable.

We also want to give a special shoutout to Clara, who immediately made us feel so welcome at check-in, and Sharon💕—the most important GO to me—along with executive chef ,Carol and the entire restaurant staff, who took great care of all our needs at the restaurant during our meals. William always made us wonderful drinks at the bar, and Debra and KP frequently dropped by to check on us. We were also thoroughly entertained by Richie with his impressive Michael Jackson moves and Jin with his incredible acrobatic performances. Last but not least, Jake’s fantastic coaching made me fall in love with golf instantly.

We had such a fantastic experience overall and would love to visit Club Med Guilin again in the future!

(Note: This is an updated version of my first review from September. I have removed the names of a few GOs who treated us like strangers for our second trip in October, as they are not worthy of being mentioned at all.)

The good:
Excellent rooms
Great food offerings
Very friendly staff
Interesting location
Great resort sports facilities

The bad:
As an active solo traveller who has been to 2 other Club Meds this year, this resort disappointing re sports coaching/activities. At past resorts I could go to daily coaching sessions for various sports, then continue to play sports with other GM's I'd met at the coaching (eg tennis, golf, padel). Guilin CM only had golf coaching offered for the first few days of my stay, very disappointing especially considering the quality of their facilities i.e. 4 pickleball courts, 2 padel courts, a short 9-hole golf course, tennis courts etc. Where were the coaching sessions I'd seen everywhere else?
I was very disappointed with the service from the Australian customer service representatives I contacted before going to Guilin. I was asking re facilities (eg is there a golf course), took over a week to get responses and was given incorrect information.

I had the best time of my life at CM Guilin. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with exceptional hospitality from Clara at reception, Sharon at the restaurant and Carol the executive chef. They went above and beyond to take care of us, making special arrangements and ensuring that every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. Ali (CDV) and Debra (LEM) also made us feel incredibly welcome, and their warmth and care made our stay truly unforgettable.

We spent our days enjoying the wide variety of activities, the state-of-the-art facilities (especially the newly renovated courts), and the delicious food at the restaurant. Every moment was filled with fun, laughter, and memorable experiences.

Emmett, KP and Richie were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making CM Guilin truly feel like a second home. A special shoutout to the circus team (Kimmy, Adib, Jin, Marine, Leo) for their hard work & patience, and to William at the bar for serving up fantastic drinks.

I completely fell in love with CM Guilin, I even booked my second trip back!

A nice stay overall, very big complex and most of the GO's were very friendly & professional. The circus staff deserves a special shout out, they were awesome. Unfortunately we had a bad experience with Jake the golf instructor who really did not seem to want to be there. We also did a mountain bike tour were the original staff was off and the replacement arrived very late, according to him club med only told him they needed him at 8:50, for an official start at 9, given he lives in a nearby village he had no way to arrive on time. We were also told to arrive at 8:45, so everyone ended up waiting for ~30min without any information nor apology. This sounds like some disorganization from the management. The replacement also did not speak a word of English. Some of the signage around the complex could be approved as well, especially the rock climbing location is a bit hard to find.

Arrived at resort with cool weather was great & beautiful resort, check in smooth & print outs given on daily activity etc. The resort made our time for our 42nd anniversary a memorable holiday. Lead by Lee Li & his team made our stay wonderful & worthwhile. Thank you so much everyone from the buggy pilot, HK team, rooms, restaurants, kitchen team kudos to all of you.
